Apparently they stopped taking photos in 1973 though...

Those weren’t official USPS vehicles, they were owned by rural carriers who used their own cars to deliver mail.

When I lived in rural WV my mail was delivered by a guy stretched across the front seats of his 1980s Dodge Caravan, sitting on the passenger side, steering with his left hand and using his left foot to work the pedals.

You can still order a RHD Jeep Wrangler right now.

Our rural route was serviced by a RHD Cherokee.

My Uncle was a rural mail carrier for awhile. He still owns one of those LHD Subaru.
